Highs and lows: height changes in the ice sheets mapped Press release 20 August 2014 Researchers in Germany have used satellite data to map elevation and elevation changes in both Greenland and Antarctica. The new maps are the most complete published to date, from a single satellite mission. The results are published today in The Cryosphere. Read more

Has Antarctic sea ice expansion been overestimated? Press release 22 July 2014 New research suggests that Antarctic sea ice may not be expanding as fast as previously thought. A team of scientists say much of the increase measured for Southern Hemisphere sea ice could be due to a processing error in the satellite data. The findings are published today in The Cryosphere.
