The Science-Art of the Rosetta Mission

Kelly Stanford, science-artist and artist-in-residence at the 2020 and 2021 EGU General Assemblies, discusses the intersection of art and science via the Rosetta mission. Joining Kelly will be Mark McCaughrean, Senior Advisor for Science & Exploration at the European Space Agency, and Ekaterina Smirnova, the science-artist behind the 67p paintings which were inspired by photography taken during the Rosetta mission. The webinar will be a relaxed conversation discussing how the Rosetta mission – and its science – have been communicated through art, and how the art reflects the science.

Speakers:
- Kelly Stanford, EGU General Assembly 2021 Artist (not!) in Residence, EGU General Assembly 2021Art and Science EOS session convener
- Mark McCaughrean, Senior Advisor for Science & Exploration at the European Space Agency and Co-founder of Space Rocks Live
- Ekaterina Smirnova, science-artist and creator of the 67P paintings depicting comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko as inspired by the Rosetta mission
