How to simulate the field: combining field studies with modelling in the soil sciences
World Soil Day is held annually on 5 December to highlight the importance of healthy soils and sustainable practices. As part of World Soil Day, the EGU Soil System Sciences division is hosting a webinar to help soil researchers navigate the gap between modelling and field studies in soil sciences.
The webinar will be presented by two experts in the field, who will show how modelling can expand the use of field and lab data. This webinar is designed for anyone interested in soils, but will not go into modelling technicalities. Instead, the webinar aims to inspire all field scientists and soil modellers alike, by showing how an ideal overlap between field and modelling data can exist. The talks will cover two aspects: Upscaling (in time and space) using modelling, and simulating biological and physical processes inside the soil system.
This webinar is for anyone interested in soils, including current soil scientists and those moving into the field or incorporating soil system sciences in their research.
The webinar will lasted for one hour and concluded with an audience Q&A.
