ERE Campfire: Geothermal Heat Pumps in the Chilean Altiplano
The Energy, Resources and Energy (ERE) Division invites you to attend a campfire related to geothermal energy, featuring guest speaker Diego Aravena (Atacama University).
This campfire will provide an introduction to geothermal heat pumps and their application in Chile. It will include a regional-scale evaluation of their efficiency in northern Chile, as well as insights gained from the installation of two geothermal heat pumps used for heating a small building and a children’s internship center, located at elevations of 3,700 and 3,550 meters above sea level, respectively. We will also discuss the main barriers and opportunities identified for implementing this technology in high-altitude locations.
Future ERE events will circulate on our mailing list (ere-ecs@lists.egu.eu) too. Further information about ERE division: https://www.egu.eu/ere/
