How to convene a session at EGU23

Sessions at the EGU General Assembly are organised and delivered by the Union’s members. Built bottom-up by the community, sessions cover a broad array of subjects from focused, scientific sessions to those of interest to the entire Union. But organizing such sessions can be daunting to conveners, experienced and first-time alike.

This webinar provides insight into the convening process, and includes guidance and tips on how best to deliver an engaging session for audiences at the General Assembly. Presented by the Deputy Union-level ECS Representative, David Fernández-Blanco, this webinar will cover topics such as what the EGU Code of Conduct means for your session, tips on what to do before, during, and after the session, and what convening looks like for different session formats, from orals to PICOs.

This webinar is pre-recorded and will be available on EGU’s Youtube channel, here: https://www.youtube.com/@egu

David Fernández-Blanco’s research explores how the Earth’s surface vertical motions evolve over time. David’s research agenda covers post-rift events in Morocco, big transform faults in Sumatra, orogenic plateau growth in Turkey and interaction of plate boundaries in Greece. Using fieldwork and taking a holistic stand, he combines geomorphology, tectono-stratigraphy and structural geology approaches at regional scales. His passion for research is reflected in active community involvement and geo-communication efforts. David is now Deputy Union-Level ECS Representative, so get in touch via e-mail, ecs@egu.eu, or on Twitter @_GeoDa_
