EGU Public Lecture, an event for the Viennese public
20 March 2018
This year, for the first time, the EGU is organising an event for the wider public in Vienna during the EGU General Assembly. The EGU Public Lecture provides insight into a topic in the Earth, planetary and space sciences of interest to a broad audience, aiming to bridge the gap between the scientists at the Austria Center Vienna and the local Viennese community.
The inaugural EGU Public Lecture, organised in partnership with the Vienna Natural History Museum, will be delivered by Stefan Rahmstorf, Climate Scientist, Head of Department at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and Professor of Physics of the Oceans at the University of Potsdam. The event (in German) is taking place at the Museum on Thursday 12 April and will have an introduction (in English) by the EGU President Jonathan Bamber.
While the EGU General Assembly has been happening in Vienna for a number of years, bringing some 14,000 scientists to the Austrian capital, this is the first time we are organising an event for the local Viennese public.
