EDI Committee seeks two new members!

23 August 2024

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee promotes and supports equality, diversity and inclusion in the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The Committee works closely with the EGU Council, the Early Career Scientists and Outreach Committee as well as representatives from related organisations to raise awareness of the broad value and need of EDI within the scientific community.

The EDI Committee is seeking two new members who will actively contribute to the implementation and promotion of EDI values and initiatives within the European Geosciences Union.

Prospective candidates should have:

  • Demonstrated motivation to pursue EDI actions
  • Awareness of the EGU mission and activities
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative diverse group

Previous experience in promoting Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace is valued but not mandatory. The ideal EDI Committee member will be enthusiastic, engaged, and available to dedicate time to this role.

The position is for two years (renewable for two additional years) and it is entirely voluntary based. Active and regular participation within the EDI Committee is essential.

Interested persons are asked to send a letter-of-application (max. 1 page) noting their interest and how they fit the profile of a prospective candidate as described in the above bulleted list, and their CV (max. 2 pages). The two items should be presented as a single pdf document to the EDI Committee co-chairs ( edi@egu.eu) and the EGU Executive Secretary, Philippe Courtial (executive-secretary@egu.eu), by 10 October 2024.
For further information concerning the voluntary positions, please contact the EDI Committee co-chairs (edi@egu.eu) Lisa Wingate and Alberto Montanari.
