GeoCinema guidelines and submission form
The EGU General Assembly is pleased to bring back GeoCinema, screening short video clips and longer films related to Earth, space and planetary sciences. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your geosciences footage and engage with the EGU community! If you would like to contribute content and convene a film screening, follow the guidelines and submission form below.
Guidelines
GeoCinema sessions will take place in room E1 at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of the conference week, between 18:00 and 20:00 CEST. The room is equipped with a hybrid set-up, allowing us to live-stream the film to the virtual audience in addition to those on-site in Vienna (note: the session will not be recorded). To contribute a film, you must hold permission rights to feature the film in a public venue. The film must be in English or with English subtitles, embedded into the video file. In order to maximize the variety of films and topics featured, preference will be given to films under 30 minutes in duration. Longer films which do not make it into the programme (as well as films under 3 minutes in duration) may have the opportunity to be featured online, for on-demand viewing.
To submit your contribution, please follow the outlined steps:
- Fill out and submit the form below.
- After completion of the form, you will receive an email prompting confirmation of email address.* Your submission is only valid once the email address has been confirmed!
*Make sure to check your spam box as to not miss this important step!
The deadline for submission of the form and footage upload is 6 December 2024. Submissions are subject to the approval of the Programme Committee Co-chairs and must comply with the EGU Code of Conduct. Films will be scheduled based on the preferred date(s) indicated on the form, on a first-come-first-served basis until the slots are full. Following review of the footage, we will be in touch with you regarding scheduling and other organisational matters via email. Please note that someone affiliated with the film must be able to convene the session, either on-site or virtually, by providing a brief introduction and moderating a Q&A discussion following the screening, should time allow. If this is not the person submitting the form, please indicate other(s) who can act as session convener(s) (with their permission). In order to convene the session, one must be registered for EGU25 on-site or virtual participation.
