Simulation of glacier retreat in the Filchner-Ronne ice shelf over three centuries (video)
Simulation showing a number of glaciers undergoing major retreat in response to the thinning of the Filchner-Ronne ice shelf, as computed by the study’s ocean model. The colours show the ice flow speed in metres per year. The grounding line, which separates the grounded (resting on bedrock) ice from floating ice, is represented in bright blue.
