All-sky images of aurora
Two digital SLRs (single-lens reflex cameras), equipped with fisheye lenses and GPS units, captured these two simultaneous all-sky images of aurora in Alaska, USA. The subtle differences between the left and right pictures allow researchers to measure the altitude where electrons in the atmosphere emit the light that produces aurora.
