Rhone glacier
The Rhone glacier was the largest glacier of the European Alps during the last Ice Age (ca. 20,000 years ago). Since then, it has shrank to a typical valley glacier. The white surface at the lower right edge of the glacier corresponds to an artificial coverage with blankets to reduce glacier melt.
