King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences (CPG), Department of Geosciences invites applications for a faculty position (Associate or Full Professor rank) in the field of Stable Isotope Geochemistry to begin as early as January 2026. We seek an outstanding individual who will conduct cutting-edge research and dedicated teaching.

The Department has a strong tradition and international reputation in applied undergraduate and graduate education and offers accredited B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in geology and geophysics, and an M.S. degree in Environmental Science. KFUPM ranks 7th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by subject category of Minerals and Mining Engineering. The Department has 22 full-time faculty, two lecturers, six post-docs, five supporting staff, and approximately 71 undergraduate majors and 153 graduate students. State-of-the-science analytical facilities are housed in CPG. The stable isotope facility includes four SIRMS instruments with peripherals for automated carbonate analysis, pyrolysis, combustion, laser ablation, and gas chromatography. Two cavity ringdown instruments are used to analyze the isotopes of water and DIC. Programs are enhanced through close collaboration with the Department of Petroleum Engineering within the College and with other departments on campus. Job description

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong and vibrant research program and build on an international reputation through publication, in addition to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, directing graduate research, and supervising thesis projects.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in the field of Geology or Geochemistry. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success for high-quality basic and applied research and scholarship. Research domains may include, but are not limited to, low-temperature applications of stable isotopes to petrology of carbonate sediments and rocks, chemostratigraphy and carbon cycling, clumped isotope applications, mineral deposit genesis and evolution, paleoclimatology, and/or isotope hydrology. Significant experience operating and maintaining IRMS instrumentation (dual-inlet and continuous-flow) is required. Applicants should demonstrate a record of successful teaching and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Applications from qualified female candidates are encouraged.

Compensation: Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. KFUPM and CPG provide an attractive benefits package including free on-campus housing, fully paid health insurance, dependent education aid, and paid tickets for annual repatriation holidays. The annual contract includes two months of paid summer holiday.
