Climate: Past, Present & Future (CL)
Are you passionate about carbon cycle, greenhouse gases, atmospheric chemistry, or AI-driven environmental research?
Dr. Mengze Li’s research group at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking for motivated postdocs, PhD students, research assistants, and undergraduate/Master’s students!
Our lab is broadly interested in carbon cycle and atmospheric monitoring using observations, modeling, and AI-driven analysis, with a strong interest in wetlands.
Potential Research Topics (but not limited to)
(A) For postdocs and prospective PhD students:
- AI and/or modeling of wetland greenhouse gas emissions and climate impacts
- Field measurement of Southeast Asia wetlands
- Automated Uncrewed Aerial Systems design for field measurement of wetlands
(B) For research assistants, Bachelor/Masters students, and visiting students:
- Topics in section A
- Global carbon cycle and greenhouse gases (not limited to wetlands, or CO2/CH4), e.g. forest, wildfire, agriculture, landfill
- Air quality and atmospheric chemistry, such as urban air quality, wildfire chemistry
- Environmental injustice and human health related to air quality
Preferred Experience
We welcome applicants with backgrounds in environmental science, computer science, engineering, atmospheric science, geography, ecology, or related fields.
Preferred skills (one or more, depending on the project) include:
- Strong data analysis skills (Python, R, MATLAB, etc.)
- Experience with field measurements, remote sensing, or atmospheric modeling
- Experience in AI/machine learning applications
- Passion for interdisciplinary research and collaboration
