Job description

As part of the research training group 2360 SystemLink – Crossing boundaries: Propagation of in-stream environmental alterations to adjacent terrestrial ecosystems funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) the iES Landau, Institute for Environmental Sciences, University (RPTU) Kaiserslautern–Landau, Campus Landau, Germany offers 14 doctoral research positions (65%, PhD students).

Your area of ​​responsibility:
The 14 PhD researchers will jointly work on a large field study across Europe on aquatic-terrestrial ecosystem linkages under anthropogenic stress (e.g. micropollutants, invasive species, hydro-morphological alterations). In addition, they may conduct experiments in unique aquatic-terrestrial mesocosm facilities combined with laboratory research, or develop and apply process-based environmental models.

What to expect:
- An international research environment with the entire group of doctoral researchers working closely together
- An individualized course program complementing the research program.

Your requirements profile:
Successful candidates will hold a diploma or a Bachelor’s AND a Master’s degree in a topic clearly linked to environmental sciences such as biology, chemistry, data science, hydrology, ecotoxicology, physics, physical geography, modelling or similar. A strong motivation to actively work in the field, to work in teams, to publish research articles, and to finish a PhD thesis within three years is needed. Applicants must have a valid class B driving license (or equivalent) and be able to work under physical strain.
