Job description

We study the coupling between flow and geomechanics, specifically the pore pressure and the porous media deformation, a process known to be a precursor to induced seismicity. We have a unique experimental setup that measures local and global elastoplastic strain, pressure, and flow on a controllable artificial rock where we pre-establish porosity, permeability, and material strength. We seek a seasoned researcher with an experimental background to apply external axial and triaxial strains on the artificial rock during pressurized flow. The candidate needs to be willing to enjoy a vibrant group, willing to learn new concepts, and stubborn enough to dive into challenging scientific questions.
