Postdoctoral position on the role of atmospheric teleconnections in decadal prediction (R2)
Climate: Past, Present & Future (CL)
Ocean Sciences (OS)
The Climate Variability and Change (CVC) Group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to explore decadal climate predictions. This position, funded by the European project Impetus4Change, focuses on investigating how key teleconnection mechanisms in the North Atlantic influence predictive skill over Europe. The work will also involve applying process-based constraints to improve multi-model ensemble predictions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Exploring North Atlantic teleconnection mechanisms in a multi-model decadal prediction ensemble
- Investigating the link between European predictive skill and the realism of these mechanisms
- Developing process-based constrained multi-model predictions
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in computer science, physics, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline, with experience in statistical analysis and climate data. Experience in climate modeling and prediction is a plus. Postdoctoral experience and a collaborative mindset are essential.
