Tenure-track faculty
Universidad de los Andes
Founded on November 16, 1948, by a group of young people led by Mario Laserna Pinzón, the Universidad de los Andes is the first private higher education institution in Colombia that is secular and independent of political parties, not aligned with the interests of any social or economic group.
Precisely, these characteristics made Los Andes an avant-garde educational project at a historical moment in the country when private universities were influenced by partisan struggles. In this historical context, the birth of Los Andes was not just driven by the desire to create another university or an exclusively educational interest, but by the intention to create a new country.
