Our department is housed within the School of Arts & Sciences, which is comprised of 28 academic departments, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate Division, and the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. We promote and encourage curiosity, intellectual engagement, and discovery among all our students and faculty. Additionally, this position may benefit from connections with the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability and the Media, The Water Center at Penn, the Environmental Innovation Initiative, the Vagelos Center for Energy Research and Technology, the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy, and the Center for Excellence in Environmental Toxicology.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated excellence and productivity in research and the potential to excel in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentorship. Candidates should upload materials to Interfolio and include: (i) a cover letter, (ii) a CV, (iii) a statement of research experience and current goals, two-page maximum, (iii) a teaching statement to describe teaching experience, planned courses, and plans for recruiting, retaining, and mentoring a diverse student body and research team, two-page maximum, (iv) a short, annotated description of up to five publications and (v) the names and contact information of three referees. Review of applicants will begin on November 20, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.

We seek candidates who share our strong commitment to research, teaching and mentoring, and to a scholarly community shaped by values of inclusive excellence. The School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania is committed to cultivating and sustaining a community of students, scholars, researchers, and staff that reflects the diversity of our world. We nurture working and learning environments that are affirming, equitable, and inclusive.
