Job description

This research aims to construct ecosystem services and resilience curves for tree species in the city of São Paulo by monitoring key physiological processes and characterizing environmental conditions. To build these curves, primary physiological data will be collected, including growth and carbon accumulation via dendrometry; promotion of thermal comfort through measurements of sap flow, evapotranspiration, stomatal conductance, temperature, and leaf area index. Stable isotopes will be analyzed in growth rings to assess resilience. Microclimatic data will be incorporated into the curve construction model.
This postdoctoral position requires expertise in Ecophysiology and Ecosystem Services, with experience in analyzing and interpreting growth rates and the maintenance of tree species, isotopic analysis in plants, and climate-related research. Experience with field data management, implementation of databases, and the application of machine learning models is also required. Knowledge of large-scale environmental variable mapping and forest carbon balance monitoring is desirable. The candidate will collaborate with a team of national and international scientists. Proficiency in Portuguese is mandatory, and fluency in English is highly desirable.
