Job description

At the University of Göttingen, Bioclimatology group, Germany, there is a position as

Postdoctoral Researcher (all genders welcome)

to be filled. Starting date is 11/1/2024. The position is limited to 10/30/2030.

The successful candidate will work on investigating the resilience of forest ecosystems using eddy covariance flux data from several sites in Germany as part of the newly funded FoResLab project. FoResLab is a collaborative project aiming at understanding the resilience of forest ecosystems in Germany combining real-time field measurements (eddy covariance, sap flux, dendrometer), remote sensing techniques (terrestrial and airborne laser scanning, satellite) and socio-economic assessments. It consists of 13 subprojects from seven different institutions. FoResLab is coordinated by the University of Goettingen.

In this subproject, the candidate’s tasks include eddy covariance measurements at multiple forests sites in Germany including data quality assurance, data analysis, collaborating with the other subprojects, support of the project coordination, presentation of results nationally and internationally, publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications you should have:

PhD degree or at least successfully completed PhD examination in environmental science or related disciplines (meteorology, physics, geography, plant ecology, forestry, etc.)

Research experience in eddy covariance flux measurements or other micrometeorological methods (required)

Experience with data analysis in R, python, matlab, or other relevant programming languages (preferred)

Scientific creativity shown by a track record of original and innovative research (required)

Driving license (preferred)

Proficiency in English (required), German a plus
