Biogeosciences (BG)
Hydrological Sciences (HS)
Two fully-funded Ph.D. studentships in peatland ecosystem modeling are available at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada).
Two fully-funded Ph.D. students, of which one is more focused on ecohydrological modeling and the other on carbon modeling, are available to further develop and apply the McGill Wetland Model (MWM). The MWM has coupled with Holocene Peatland Model (HPM), a cohort peatland model that can dynamically model the peat properties of each peat cohort, and incorporated the microbial dynamics and N, P cycling in peatlands. The new development of MWM is to fully assess the responses of northern peatlands to climate change, human disturbances and restoration.
You need to have an experience with process-based ecosystem modeling and computer programming ( e.g. Fortran, or C/C++) for these positions. You need to have minimum 75% grade for both your BSc and MSc to be eligible for the scholarship. The starting date for these positions is ASAP, upon discussion and VISA issuance.
Please send your up-to-date curriculum vitae and unofficial transcripts to Dr. Jianghua Wu at jianghuaw@mun.ca . Only the potentially selected candidates will be contacted for further discussions.
