The professorship should provide visionary leadership in research and teaching within the field of Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry. The professor is expected to lead an active and impactful research program, securing external funding and publishing in top-tier journals. The professor will direct and further develop the core facility GeoIsotopes featuring clean labs, a Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer and a Quadrupole Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer. Close cooperation and interaction with other research groups in the faculty as well as national and international collaborations beyond the faculty are expected. Possible research foci include, among others, element fractionation and mass transfer in the interior and at the surface of the Earth and other planets, magma and/or mantle evolution, formation of mineral deposits, isotope geology, geo- and cosmo-chronology, solar system evolution. The professor will be in charge of developing and teaching advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry and in related areas as well as mentoring junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students.
