Job description

We are offering a PhD in Computational Enhancements for Ocean Modeling at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven, Germany.

This position offers the unique opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research on the modeling of ocean dynamics in the climate system using the Finite volumE Sea ice Ocean Model (FESOM). More specifically, it aims to develop and integrate higher-order numerical methods into FESOM, enhancing its capability to accurately simulate eddy-rich ocean dynamics. The candidate will also contribute to the development of a new, accelerated Python-based code for FESOM, optimizing computational efficiency and scale representation.
