Job description

At the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Technical Hydromechanics invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of Environmental Fluid Dynamics and Modeling

to be filled on October 1, 2025.

The position holder (m/f/x) shall represent the scientific fields of Technical Hydromechanics in application to civil and environmental engineering in research and teaching. Your teaching duties primarily cover the diploma study program in Civil Engineering in direct and distance learning as well as the master’s program in Hydro Science and Engineering. They cover the contents of the chair according to the current study regulations of the Faculty of Civil Engineering as well as the fundamentals of hydromechanics as well as special hydrodynamic processes, pipe and channel hydraulics as well as numerical methods in hydrodynamics, computer-aided water modeling, modeling of transport processes in water bodies and programming in hydroinformatics. We expect that you will acquire third party funds from federal (DFG, BMBF, etc.) or EU funding as well as your willingness to cooperate with other chairs of Faculty of Civil Engineering and other faculties of TU Dresden. Cooperation with non-university research institutions in the vicinity of TU Dresden is desired. Your participation in academic self-administration as well as your willingness to teach in English are required.

We expect theoretical and long-term practical experience related to the scientific fields of Technical Hydromechanics. In the field of research, you are able to prove the ability to conduct academic research, preferably by means of through appropriate publication activity. Basic research experience in the field of ecohydraulics, is an advantage. In addition to the general civil service requirements, applicants must fulfill the recruitment requirements of § 59 of the Law on Universities in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG).
