Job Description
The Volcanoes and Earth’s Interior Research Center (VERC; Director: Shigeaki Ono), Research Institute for Marine Geodynamics (IMG), Japan Agency for Marine Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) is recruiting a Senior Researcher, Researchers, or Researchers (II) to engage in the following research project.

[Research Description]
(Immediately upon employment)
Submarine volcanology involves pioneering research due to the limited opportunities available to observe submarine volcanoes compared to land volcanoes. We are currently seeking researchers with an interest in submarine volcanoes, particularly those who can offer cross-disciplinary perspectives and innovative approaches. The successful candidates will be expected to develop skills that can be applied to volcanic research. We also hope to contribute to the work undertaken by The Headquarters for Volcanic Research Promotion established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan.

The successful candidates will:
(1) Conduct research on marine volcanoes through the application of volcanology, geophysics, geology, geochemistry, and other methods;
(2) Actively develop methods required for (1); and
(3) Develop a new marine volcanology through cross-disciplinary perspectives and active promotion of collaborative research.
