Job description

Philosophy and Purpose of Recruitment
As part of JAMSTEC’s ongoing efforts, to promote diversity and invigorate research activities, we are conducting the program called the “JAMSTEC Restart Support Recruitment”. This program aims to provide opportunities for outstanding researchers, research technicians, and engineers who have experienced interruptions in their professional activities due to life events such as childbirth or child rearing. Through this recruitment initiative, we will be accepting applications for multiple positions focused on advancing fundamental research and development in the field of marine science and technology. It is important to note that successful candidates will be appointed as Tenure-track fixed-term employees and will have the opportunity to take the transitional examination for the positions of permanent employee. We welcome motivated applicants who wish to restart their research and development activities.

JAMSTEC is actively addressing the following challenges to advance fundamental research and development in the field of marine science and technology:
(1) Research and development aimed at understanding the state of the global environment and predicting changes.
(2) Research and development focused on contributing to the sustainable and effective utilization of marine resources.
(3) Research and development specifically addressing earthquakes and volcanic activities in the ocean area.
(4) Research and development pertaining to the sophistication and optimization of marine geo-information using mathematical and scientific methods.
(5) Development of challenging and innovative projects, along with the advancement of foundational technology.
