Research subject: Designing soil and groundwater remediation systems using gas injection.
Several soil and groundwater remediation methods involve gas injection/extraction, such as bio-venting, soil vapor extraction, air sparging, and ozone injection. The design and operation of these systems hinge on the fundamental understanding and evaluation of multiphase flow and transport through porous media and complex chemical and biological reactions. In this study, we will investigate the applicative aspects of complex, multiphase fate and transport phenomena to close the gap between current physical understanding and state-of-the-practice environmental engineering.
Requirements:
- A relevant academic degree in soil science, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in developing numerical models is an advantage but not mandatory
- The project encompasses basic and applied research, offering opportunities for collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
Starting Date: Flexible
