Apply now: EGU Science-Policy Pairing Scheme
To help promote a culture of evidence-informed policymaking and encourage stronger science-policy partnerships, the EGU will once again sponsor EGU members to work alongside a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and experience life inside the European Parliament this year. The EGU will cover the scientist’s travel and accommodation expenses for the duration of the Pairing Scheme.
The successful applicants will be paired with MEP Jutta Paulus representing the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance.
Examples of activities that the scientists selected for the scheme might be involved with include:
- Receiving an introduction to the work of the European Parliament from the MEP or their assistants;
- Sharing your scientific expertise where relevant;
- Joining various meetings or events that involve European Parliament staff (depending on scheduling and meeting sensitivity).
The pairing scheme is likely to take place in early December 2024. To apply, please attach in a single document your CV (max 1 page) and a motivation letter (max 1 page) that specifically answers the following key questions:
- Why do you want to participate in this pairing scheme?
- How would you like to contribute to the MEP and their team’s work?
- What are your experiences communicating your research to a non-academic audience?
The application deadline is midnight on 4 November 2024. Please note that only complete applications in English can be accepted and only EGU members who are EU citizens or based in Europe at the time of application are eligible to apply.
