Description
Plastics have always been notorious for their damaging effect on the environment, not least because of how slowly they degrade, so improving understanding of microplastics pollution in the environment – particularly in aquatic and marine ecosystems – is essential.
Teach your students about citizen science and inspire them to get involved with The Big Microplastic Survey.
Included is a summary of a current research project and an interview with marine chemist, Prof Jay Brandes, and environmental educator, Dodie Sanders. The activity sheet includes discussion points – eight questions the students can answer in groups or individually –, and links to projects that your students can get involved with.
