Patrick Bianchi pursued his PhD studies in the Laboratory Seismology Group, led by Dr. Paul Selvadurai and Prof. Dr. Stefan Wiemer, within the Swiss Seismological Service at ETH Zurich. After earning a degree in Geophysics from the Department of Earth Sciences at ETH Zurich, he began his PhD in 2020, completing it after four years. His research focuses on investigating potential precursory processes in rock deformation experiments by employing and developing state-of-the-art modeling and laboratory techniques. This research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the physical mechanisms driving precursory signals associated with earthquake genesis and fault preparation, as well as the development of numerical models to assist researchers in assessing hazards in both natural and anthropogenic scenarios.
