Laura Schild
CL Climate: Past, Present & Future
The 2024 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Laura Schild for the poster/PICO entitled:

Laura Schild is a third-year PhD student at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, and the University of Potsdam. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ulrike Herzschuh and Prof. Dr. Thomas Laepple, her research focuses on understanding vegetation-climate dynamics during the Holocene using pollen data from the Northern Hemisphere.
In her award-winning EGU24 poster presentation, Laura showcased analyses on the interaction between forest cover and plant biodiversity inferred from pollen data. Her findings reveal not only a trade-off between forest cover and biodiversity but also a significant impact of past forest cover changes, indicating biodiversity legacies associated with land-use change.
