Jorge Sanhueza is a PhD candidate at Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC, Chile), under the supervision of Prof. Gonzalo Yáñez. Jorge is motivated to link geological, geophysical and geochemical observables with geodynamic models (2D/3D).
The poster presentation at the EGU 2024 highlighted the study of slab windows due to the subduction of mid-ocean ridges, focusing on the relationship between the slab window geometry, upper mantle flow and seismic observations. This relation was made by obtaining an analytical solution for the geometry of the slab window, which was prescribed in 3D steady-state thermomechanical models and compared with 3D+time dynamic models. Preliminary results are consistent with shear wave seismic anomalies and azimuthal anisotropy of slab windows on the eastern Pacific margin.
