The 2024 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Hannah Meyer for the poster/PICO entitled:

Abundance of giant mineral dust particles: Insights from measured emitted dust size distributions during the J-WADI campaign (Meyer, H.; Alastuey, A.; Dupont, S; Etyemezian, V.; Girdwood, J.; González-Flórez, C.; González-Romero, A.; Hussein, T.; Irvine, M.; Kandler, K.; Knippertz, P.; Möhler, O.; Nikolich, G.; Querol, X.; Stopford, C.; Vogel, F.; Weis, F.; Wieser, A.; Pérez García-Pando, C.; Klose, M.)

Hannah Meyer is a PhD candidate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) at the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research – Troposphere Research (IMKTRO) and a member of the Helmholtz Young Investigator Group "Mineral Dust". Her research focuses on the emission and size distribution of mineral dust particles, with a particular emphasis on the super-coarse (10 < d ≤ 62.5 μm with d being particle diameter) and giant (d > 62.5 μm) particle size ranges, which are not yet fully understood but are crucial for advancing our knowledge of how mineral dust interacts with weather and climate.

In her presentation at EGU 2024, Hannah shared findings on the size distribution of mineral dust close to an emission source using data collected in the Jordan Wind Erosion and Dust Investigation (J-WADI, https://www.imk-tro.kit.edu/11800.php) campaign conducted north of Wadi Rum, Jordan, in September 2022.
