The 2024 Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation (OSPP) Award is awarded to Anna Siems for the poster/PICO entitled:

Release and turn-over of carbon, nitrogen and metals under oxic and suboxic conditions in long-term incubations of Skagerrak sediments (Siems, A.; Sanders, T.; Zimmermann, T.; Wieser, M. E.; Pröfrock, D.)

Anna Siems is a PhD candidate at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Geesthacht, Germany. She mainly works on trace metals in the North Sea sediments and water column. Within the project CARBOSTORE, the trace metal data is linked to the nitrogen and carbon cycle.

In her poster at EGU24, Anna presented nutrient, trace metal and Mo isotopic data from long-term incubations with sediments from the Skagerrak (North Sea). The results allowed for estimates of both (anthropogenic) trace metal remobilization and changes in redox conditions.
