Álvaro Cubas is a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences and currently a master's student in Oceanography, specializing in open ocean at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. His research focuses on studying the physical processes influencing the transport of marine debris, such as microplastics and macroplastics, in the water column.
The work presented at EGU 2024 featured a sensitivity analysis of the TrackMPD virtual particle tracking framework to model the transport of microplastics in the Canary Current System. This study explored the importance of physical processes in the potential distribution of microplastics in the region.
