Abigail McConnell is a PhD student at the University of Leeds and is affiliated with the 'Aerosol Centre for Doctoral Training' at the University of Bristol. Her research is in atmospheric chemistry and focuses on measuring radical processes that occur on the surface of atmospheric aerosols. Specifically the loss rate of radicals onto the surface
of organic aerosols, then modelling the effect this would have on atmospheric gas-phase concentrations of these radicals. The work she presented at EGU24 was focused on laboratory measurements of the HO2 radical loss rate onto secondary organic aerosols. She reported the first measurements of the uptake coefficient of HO2 onto secondary organic aerosols at a range of relative humidities.
