Maximilian Söchting is a PhD candidate at the Earth System Data Science group at the Remote Sensing Centre for Earth System research and the Image and Signal Processing group at Leipzig University in Leipzig, Germany, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Miguel D. Mahecha and Prof. Dr. Gerik Scheuermann. His current research interests are on interactive visualization of large Earth system science data sets.
His contribution at EGU General Assembly 2022 focuses on Lexcube.org, a web-based visualization tool that enables interactive exploration of large Earth system data cubes containing terabytes of data across space and time, making this data accessible for non-specialists and specialists alike. Lexcube.org currently hosts a variety of datasets from different domains within Earth system sciences, with over 2,500 users and 145,000 API requests since its public release in 2022.
