Ali Serkan Bayar is an MSc student in the Meteorology and Climate Physics program at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. Before starting his MSc studies, he completed his BSc degree in the Department of Civil Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Turkey. His research mainly focuses on utilizing large climate model ensembles to better understand the differences between model generations and to assess the potential impacts of climate change.
His work presented at the EGU General Assembly 2023 investigates the differences between the CMIP5 and CMIP6 climate model ensembles using an ecologically meaningful tool: Köppen-Geiger climate classification. The work provides further insights into the pace of climate zone change depending on the equilibrium climate sensitivity characteristics of the ensemble subset used.
