Aydogan Avcioglu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Eurasia Institute of Earth Science at Istanbul Technical University. He is supervised by Tolga Görüm, Ömer Yetemen. He currently works with Wolfgang Schwanghart at Potsdam University as visiting Ph.D. student. His research focuses on the hillslope processes and applying machine learning techniques, physicochemical, and digital terrain analyses to badland landscapes to reveal their origins. He received this award for his presentation on utilizing laboratory-based climate experiments to understand the seasonal influences of climate conditions on weathering processes in Turkish Badlands. His research is part of the project “A co-evolutionary modelling system for water-soil-vegetation interactions in Turkish semiarid landscapes for sustainable natural resources.”.
