The 2019 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Paul Beguelin for the poster/PICO entitled:
Cerium -Hf-Nd-Sr-Pb isotope constraints on the Azores source composition and plume-rift interaction (Beguelin, P.; Bizimis, M.; Willig, M.; Stracke, A.; Beier, C.; Turner, S.)

Paul Beguelin is a PhD student at the University of South Carolina (USA) supervised by Dr. Michael Bizimis. His thesis on mantle geochemistry aims at deciphering how upper mantle processes affect the isotope signal of deep mantle source components in erupted oceanic lavas in space and time. The awarded PICO presentation discusses new radiogenic isotope data (Ce-Hf-Nd-Sr-Pb) on lavas from the Azores islands, with implications on how the rifting of the lithosphere above the Azores plume controls the spatial expression of mantle sources in erupted lavas.
