Ina Teutsch is a PhD student in the Coastal Climate group of Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG). She studies waves in the North Sea, and especially the occurrence of rogue waves, which can become dangerous for ships and offshore activities. For her poster at EGU 2019, she analysed more than 300 million waves from measurement data. The poster shows how often rogue waves are measured in the southern North Sea and that they cannot be predicted from the wave heights in the background field.
