Dr Yan Li (http://folk.ntnu.no/yal/) is a postdoc (2017.9 – 2018.8) in the Department of Energy and Process Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway. She defended her thesis in Sep. 2017 and her topic deals with fluid dynamics: wave-shear current interaction. She has been in the group led by Dr. Dr. Simen Å Ellingsen (https://www.ntnu.no/ansatte/simen.a.ellingsen) from Aug. 2014 to Aug. 2018. She is interested in analytical methods for obtaining physical properties of 3D surface water waves over a background flow whose magnitude and direction may vary with water depth. Particularly, during the EGU-2018 session, she presented a direct integration method (DIM) to this end. This method is of wide applicability, e.g. ocean wave models and forces on offshore slender structures.
