SSP Stratigraphy, Sedimentology and Palaeontology
The 2018 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Ricarda D. Rohlfs for the poster/PICO entitled:
Weighted Voronoi calculations in crystal surface morphology: a fast approach (Rohlfs, R. D.; Fischer, C.; Kurganskaya, I.; Lüttge, A.)
Ricarda D. Rohlfs has received her MSc in the international master program “Materials Chemistry and Mineralogy” at the University of Bremen, where she is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Luttge. She currently works on the ResKin project (Reaction Kinetics in Reservoir Rocks) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Ricarda’s main research interests are algorithm design and computational modelling of water-rock interaction, reaction kinetics and the prediction of complex surface processes. Her EGU poster 2018 is based on Voronoi techniques and presents a method she developed as part of her master thesis for simulating the reaction kinetics of a dissolving crystal surface. Her work aims for improving our abilities to upscale molecular processes.
