The 2016 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Stefanie Tofelde for the poster/PICO entitled:

Eccentricity-driven fluvial fill terrace formation in the southern-central Andes, NW Argentina (Tofelde, S.; Savi, S.; Wickert, A. D.; Wittmann, H.; Alonso, R.; Strecker, M. R.; Schildgen, T.F.)

I am a PhD student at the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Potsdam (Germany) and at the German Research Centre for Geoscience (GFZ) in Potsdam, supervised by Prof. Taylor Schildgen and Prof. Manfred Strecker. For my PhD, I aim to reconstruct changes in erosion rates and hillslope processes in response to climate forcing. Sedimentary deposits like lacustrine and fluvial sediments contain diverse information about the erosional regime and environmental conditions in the past. To extract this information, I combine geochronological, geomorphological and geochemical approaches. For the determination of depositional ages, the onset of fluvial incision, and paleo-erosion rates, I use in-situ cosmogenic nuclides, while the environmental reconstructions are based on the stable isotope composition of biomarkers.
The poster awarded at the EGU 2016 presented the results of work from within an intermontane basin in the Southern-Central Andes (Argentina), where we observed the formation of fluvial fill terraces roughly related to a 100 kyr (glacial-interglacial) cyclicity.
