The 2016 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Philip Kraaijenbrink for the poster/PICO entitled:
Multi-temporal high resolution monitoring of debris-covered glaciers using unmanned aerial vehicles (Kraaijenbrink, P.; Immerzeel, W.; de Jong, S.; Shea, J.; Pellicciotti, F.; Meijer, S.; Shresta, A.)

Philip Kraaijenbrink did a master in physical geography with a focus on remote sensing, geographical information systems and geostatistics. He has a heart for satellite imagery, object-based image analyses and climate data. At the moment he is a full time PhD candidate at Utrecht University (Netherlands) under supervision of Dr. Walter Immerzeel and Prof. Dr. Steven de Jong. In Utrecht he works on the EIT Climate-KIC funded project “IceSpy: drones as smart innovation technology in the monitoring of glaciers”. In this project he monitors the dynamics of (debris-covered) glaciers using unmanned aerial vehicles and satellites in order to learn more about spatial and temporal variability in melt and flow patterns, and about the effects of surface features such as supraglacial lakes and ice cliffs on glacier melt.
