I am a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany. I study how the diurnal cycle of clouds impacts the climate system, such as large-scale circulations. The diurnal cycle impacts longer timescales through nonlinear timescale interactions, which arise from the effects of clouds on the atmosphere’s radiative heating budget. The use of models is critical to this problem, which would otherwise be impossible to pick apart from observations alone.
