SSP Stratigraphy, Sedimentology and Palaeontology
The 2016 Outstanding Student Poster and PICO (OSPP) Award is awarded to Dursun Acar for the poster/PICO entitled:
Detecting to secret folded composite lamina package pairs in cores related slump dump structures and seismites with high resolution sampling of physical parameters (Acar, D.; Cagatay, N.; Feray, A.; Kadir Eris, M.; Sari, E.; Akcer, S.; Makaroglu, O.; Alkislar, H.; Biltekin, D.; Arslan, T. N.)

Dursun is a graduate student of Marine Sciences and Management at Istanbul University. He also works for the Eastern Mediterranean Centre for Oceanography and Limnology at Istanbul Technical University. His broad field of interest mainly focuses on technical improvements on collecting data in palaeoceanographic studies and tectonic. Moreover, his studies cover climatic changes through the Danube Basin, from the analyses of Black Sea sediment cores about metal pollution. The poster presented at the EGU 2016 depicts that; how we define presence of secret symmetric fold structures with repeated reverse data forms in cores.
He dedicates this price to his first teacher Mrs. Müzeyyen Serbes, to Prof. Dr. Dr. hc. A. M. C. Şengör, and to italian oceanograph Giovanni Bortoluzzi who died in 2015.
