I am a PhD student at the Snow Avalanche and Torrent Control Unit (Irstea ETNA) – Université de Grenoble Alpes. In my research, I’m investigating experimentally the internal dynamics of rapid mass movements such as debris flows. This poster presents experimental results documenting the internal dynamics of a free surface viscoplastic flow down an inclined plane using optical velocimetry measurments (PIV). Both experimental velocity profiles and free surface shape are presented. Results are exploited to evaluate the prediction of numerical models used to simulate the propagation of debris flows.
