Norman Rüggen is a PhD student at the Institute of Soil Science, CEN, Hamburg University. In his project, Norman investigates carbon cycles in permafrost-affected soils by the means of stable carbon isotope labeling. As one of the goals, this project aims to make the sub-surface carbon cycles in tundra wetlands “visible” and measurable by the application of tracer methods. Norman´s work is embedded in the DFG excellence cluster “Integrated Climate Systems Science: Analysis and Prediction, CliSAP”, in the project “Arctis and Permafrost TP B1”.
