The 2015 Outstanding Student Poster (OSP) Award is awarded to Christer van der Meeren for the poster/PICO entitled:
Observations of simultaneous multi-constellation GNSS scintillation in nightside aurora over Svalbard (van der Meeren, C; Oksavik, K.; Lorentzen, D.)

Christer van der Meeren is a PhD student at the Birkeland Centre for Space Science at the University of Bergen, Norway. His research aims at understanding when and where ionospheric GPS/GNSS scintillations (rapid fluctuations of radio waves) occur in the high-latitude ionosphere. This understanding is of interest when trying to forecast and mitigate problems experienced by GNSS receivers due to ionospheric irregularities. The poster at EGU2015 is a case study of scintillations observed when a polar cap patch (an “island” of enhanced plasma density in the ionosphere) drifts into the nightside aurora.
